Job Interview Preparation and Followup

Going into an interview with confidence includes knowing what to expect and being prepared to respond appropriately. In addition to answering the interviewer's questions, the candidate will be expected to ask informed questions that reflect both interest and some prior knowledge of the organization and the nature of the work.

Be prepared, and practice answering questions. Make sure that you understand the question completely before answering. Feel free to ask for clarification. Dress for success.

Following up after an interview is essential. Not only is it courteous to thank your interviewer, but following up is a good way to confirm your continued interest in the position.

If the interviewer tells you the best way to make contact, be sure use that method. Otherwise, sending an email or handwritten note expressing your thanks, continued interest, and what impressed you most about the organization and the interview would be appropriate.Until next time ...
